SHED

SHED

The Smallest Gallery in Soho is delighted to present ‘SHED’, a new installation by neon artist Daisy Doig. The exhibition features a collection of tools inherited from the artist’s grandmother - objects that define Doig’s earliest memories of childhood. From running through the garden with her eight cousins to watering plants with her brother, these tools were the quiet witnesses to her family history.

‘SHED’ is a celebration of the tools that helped Daisy Doig’s grandmother create a beautiful garden. Doig recontextualises these utilitarian objects; by illuminating them with her signature neon, she transforms a rustic past into a vibrant present, inviting the viewer to see the beauty in the tools that shape our lives and our memories.

About the Artist:

Daisy Doig is a neon artist based in Brighton, UK. Taking inspiration from the chaos, fragility and beauty of human life, her art touches on both the heavy, uncomfortable moments and visual treasures found along the way.  Blending traditional techniques with unfiltered illustrations, Doig’s work has received international acclaim.

Approaching neon as a medium to express herself, Daisy’s choice to study glass reveals her persistent determination and joy for life. The skills demanding routines in uncomfortable conditions with high failure rates have never swayed her passion for the craft. It is in fact a natural embodiment of her own personal outlook: mesmerising, unique, truthful and bold.
